Connecting Intercom means creating a small OAuth app inside Intercom, then authorizing it from Synthight.

Before you start

You need admin access to your Intercom workspace's Developer Hub.

1. Create an OAuth app in Intercom

  1. In Intercom, go to Settings.
  2. Navigate to Integrations.
  3. Click Developer Hub, then New app and give it a name.
  4. Open the new app and click Edit.
  5. In the authentication section, check Use OAuth.
  6. Paste the callback URL shown on Synthight's setup screen into the redirect URI field.
  7. Save the app, then go to the Basic Information tab and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.

2. Connect in Synthight

  1. Sidebar → Workspace → Connections → click the Intercom card.
  2. Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.
  3. Choose the Region matching your Intercom workspace's hosting location: United States (default), European Union, or Australia.
  4. Choose your Initial Sync Range: Start from now, Last week, Last month, or Last 3 months.
  5. Click Connect Intercom. A window opens to finish authorization — complete it and return to Synthight.
  6. Pick which Teams to sync from (or All Teams), then finish setup.

Verify it worked

The Intercom card shows Connected once the sync starts, with a live status update — no page refresh needed.

Disconnecting

Reopen the card and choose Disconnect. This stops syncing new conversations; conversations already imported are unaffected.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need admin access in Intercom to connect it?
Yes. Creating an OAuth app requires admin access to your Intercom workspace's Developer Hub — ask a workspace admin to either do the setup or grant you temporary access.
Which Intercom region should I choose when connecting?
Pick the region matching where your Intercom workspace is actually hosted — United States, European Union, or Australia. Choosing the wrong region is the most common cause of a failed sync.
What happens to conversations already imported if I disconnect Intercom?
Nothing — disconnecting only stops new conversations from syncing. Everything already imported stays in Synthight and remains fully searchable.
Can I sync only specific Intercom teams instead of everything?
Yes. During setup you can choose specific Teams to sync from, or select All Teams to import conversations across your whole workspace.
